Blue Zones Project Approved™ Grocery Stores

Grocery stores subtly but significantly influence our food decisions, from the types of foods offered to where products are placed throughout the store. Case in point: About 60 percent of the food we purchase is highly processed, fatty, salty, or sugary—and many of those types of items are given prime shelf space where they’re more difficult to avoid. The grocery stores below are Blue Zones Project Approved for their efforts to give their customers more ways to make healthier choices.

Blue Zones Project® is a community-driven well-being initiative designed to make healthy choices easy

Every Monday, we've been sharing a different element of the "Power 9", the nine key lifestyle habits of the Blue Zones communities around the world. This week's habit is Plant Slant! 🍅Beans, including fava, black, soy, and lentils are the cornerstone of most centenarian diets. Other common plant-based foods include: nuts, tofu, tempeh, chickpeas, and quinoa, to name a few. 🥜To be clear - this is not directly championing a vegetarian, vegan, or any other specific diet with any label at all! We are simply highlighting eating a wide variety of fruits and veggies, regardless of your protein source. What is your favorite fruit or veggie? Share in the comments! 🥦 ... See MoreSee Less
