Healthy Petaluma is a healthcare district and foundation that works to make southern Sonoma County a place where everyone has access to equitable health and wellness services.  Through program funding, targeted initiatives, education, director services like CPR training, supporting our non-profit community, and working with Petaluma Valley Hospital’s operator to ensure continued local access to acute and emergency health care services, Healthy Petaluma exists to make sustainable improvement and foster a healthier community for all.

Healthy Petaluma spearheaded and brought the Blue Zones Project to Petaluma. The City of Petaluma and Providence Health has partnered with Healthy Petaluma to move the transformational well-being initiative forward.

The City of Petaluma is dedicated to the well-being of its community members. With a focus on five main goals: 1) a city that works for everyone; 2) an economy that prospers; 3) an environmental legacy we can be proud of; 4) a safe community that thrives; 5) spaces & places that inspire, the City has partnered with Blue Zones to serve these goals and make the healthy choice the easy choice, improving well-being for all Petalumans.

Blue Zones Project Petaluma

Blue Zones Project® is a community-driven well-being initiative designed to make healthy choices easy

Every Monday, we've been sharing a different element of the "Power 9", the nine key lifestyle habits of the Blue Zones communities around the world. This week's habit is Plant Slant! 🍅Beans, including fava, black, soy, and lentils are the cornerstone of most centenarian diets. Other common plant-based foods include: nuts, tofu, tempeh, chickpeas, and quinoa, to name a few. 🥜To be clear - this is not directly championing a vegetarian, vegan, or any other specific diet with any label at all! We are simply highlighting eating a wide variety of fruits and veggies, regardless of your protein source. What is your favorite fruit or veggie? Share in the comments! 🥦 ... See MoreSee Less
